my english prof contacted my class via email last night and said for us to bring an oversized white t-shirt.
amanda texted me and we were both skeptical with how our class would be.
i, being the early bird that i am not, but i just like to get to school early enough to find a decent parking spot, park my behind on a bench, next to my classroom in the smith building at 7:00 a.m.
crazy.
i patiently wait, picking at my poptart, nervous about who i'm going to meet today.
around 7:45, my classmates start to file in, 4 boys... do I dare? a girl, the only girl, who's married by the way, dive into that classroom?
i eventually muster up some courage and walk into the room and sit in the 3rd seat, on the wall.
a few more people walk in, girls, thanks goodness, and the teacher walks in... donning a dark suit and round spectacles. he looks kind of intimidating. little did i know, that in 15-20 min, he would be anything BUT intimidating.
he tells up to get in groups of 5, immediately amanda and i pair up, ask the girl next to us and the poor two guys behind us. GROUP! we head over to our professor, and he hands us a packet, tells us to go outside and open the packet and follow the directions.
there was a huge fish on our paper that we each needed to read. amanda had earlier said that people in his class before had to swim on the first day. honestly, i did not think this was the case today at 8:00 a.m. where the sun had just begun to warm the earth. "it's 35 degrees outside"
we read the paper.. "go to the Hart, rent a swimming suit and towel" ...we were going to go swimming.
you could hear the groans of the other students surrounding us. all the girls " i don't want to get my hair wet" " I HAVE CLASS AFTER THIS!!" i complained " man, i have to go to work after this, i'm going to smell like chlorine"
we get to the Hart, all of us nervous, but a little anxious. we put on our suits, carefully wrap our towels around our hips and walk out. of course the boys are already sitting... waiting... watching the girls entrance. typical. we are segregated, like the opposite sex has cooties. i think its funny. i could be the least self concious girl there, being that i'm married and the ONLY pregnant girl in class.
our professor explains to us, that if we open our minds and have a willing heart, this class will be a breeze. we all get into the pool, play a teamwork game, and then play waterpolo.
can i just say, that this was the most exciting, most fun class i've ever taken? i find myself wanting it to be thursday, just so that i can go to class and see what's next.
did he leave a lasting impression? did i think about what happened today mulitiple times? the answer.... yes.
